Michigan Traffic Ticket and Violations FAQ

  • How much will it cost to have Chasnick and Graff represent me? For most traffic tickets, we charge a flat fee of $200 - $300. Our fee is based on the severity of the ticket and the location of the court. For DUI and Drivers License Restoration cases, we will negotiate a one time flat fee based on the complexity of the case.
  • Why do I need an attorney? Most prosecutors or city attorneys are unwilling to reduce traffic infractions when people represent themselves. Once an attorney is involved, attitudes tend to change. We are almost always successful in reducing your violation.
  • Will my insurance rates increase of I don't fight the traffic ticket? The insurance law permits companies to impose steep increases upon people who are convicted of traffic violations. In some cases, an insurance company could increase your premiums up to an additional 50% depending on your driving record. Just one traffic violation can cost you thousands of dollars in additional insurance costs.
  • Can I lose my Driver's License? A traffic ticket is not a simple matter. Simply paying a traffic ticket does not end the matter since the Secretary of State puts points on your license for most traffic tickets. Just two or three traffic tickets on your record can total up to enough points for you to lose your license.
